WJA – Safety Awareness

1 Day

The Water Jetting Association (WJA) Safety Awareness Course (SA) with Card & Certificate is a vital City & Guilds of the London Institute Accredited qualification in water jetting, valid for three years and renewable thereafter as well. This comprehensive course provides knowledge and understanding of water jetting through theoretical and practical assessments, covering operational skills, equipment safety, and more. It is designed as an entry level accreditation applicable to all groups, and successful completion leads to the attainment of Water Jetting Association (WJA) water jetting cards. The course is aimed at a range of individuals including; operational candidates, managers, supervisors, site owners, permit issuers, and health and safety managers/officers.

The training features facilitated group discussions, question and answer sessions, and a review of industry accidents, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Topics covered include water jetting codes of practice, types of pumps, safety devices, team roles and responsibilities, job design, PPE, and applications in various scenarios such as surface preparation, drain & sewer cleaning, tube & pipe work, and hydrodemolition. The course equips delegates with the tools to understand hazards involved with high-pressure water jetting, health and safety protocols, potential equipment failures, and actions to take in case of an accident or injury.

Pre-course requirements include being at least 18 years of age, employed by a company or in a structured training course, and having a good understanding of English. Operational candidates seeking WJA CARD RENEWAL must undergo a separate recap and module. New candidates aiming to be operational, need to combine the WJA Safety Awareness course with a relevant WJA module – which Pervasive Solutions Group can help advise you on.

The course is designed to assist in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, recognizing the hazardous nature of high-pressure water jetting and the imperative need for comprehensive knowledge and understanding to ensure safe operation
